Where Science & Whimsy Come Together

Turn outdoor adventures
into one-of-a-kind
pieces of artwork

GOUACHE

Creating ecologically accurate pieces of artwork on repurposed nautical charts and topographical maps. Is there an area in the Maritimes, seaside or inland, that speaks to your heart?

We can start there and work together to create a piece that shows your favourite parts of that landscape.

Gouache, if you're curious, is a water-medium paint that is designed to be opaque and can be rewetted and dried to a matte finish. Gouache generally dries to a value that differs from the one it has when wet (lighter tones generally dry darker and darker tones tend to dry lighter). It is made by adding gum arabic to color pigments, resulting in a thicker consistency compared to regular watercolor paint.

PAPER & CLAY

Using various paper and modeling materials to embody your favorite memories, or mantras.

Replicating the hills and valleys of a cherished coastline or island, or the depths on your favourite river, lake, or seaside paradise, creating unique topographical and bathymetric works of art.

A one-of-a-kind way to capture your outdoor memories that is sure to be a conversation starter.

ACRYLICS

Inspired by the beauty of our Maritime wildlife? Typically, on canvas, these works attempt to showcase the dynamic, and often sensitive ecosystems that surround us.

Most acrylic paints are water-based but become water-resistant when dry since they are made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion and plasticizers. Depending on how much the paint is diluted with water, or modified with acrylic gels, mediums, or pastes, acrylic drying times can vary widely, and resemble watercolor, gouache, and even oil paints!
